at the 40th Vilenica International Literary Festival,
and a Guest Author of the Festival:

MAJA HADERLAP
and
VERONIKA SIMONITI

This year, Maja Haderlap published her novel Women in the Dark with Goga Publishing House, while the Slovene Writers’ Association released a new bilingual edition of her debut poetry collection Žalik pesmi (Mythical Songs) in its Litterae Slovenicae series. The Italian translation, titled Canti mitici, was done by Martina Clerici. Her novel Angel of Oblivion has received, among other awards, the prestigious Ingeborg Bachmann Prize.

Veronika Simoniti is a translator, editor, and writer. She has published three short story collections and two novels. Her novel Ivana Before the Sea received the Kresnik Award for the best Slovenian novel of 2020.

The discussion about literary, linguistic, and other dimensions of their work will be led by Katarina Modic,
and the evening will also feature musical settings of Maja Haderlap’s poetry, created especially for this occasion.
